Magritte Collection

A Surrealist Ceramic Vase with an Iconic Green Apple
The Ceramic Son Vase from the Magritte Collection by Leti Ceramics is a handmade sculptural ceramic vase inspired by René Magritte’s mysterious visual world. A green apple conceals the face of a formally dressed figure, transforming a familiar portrait into an expressive ceramic object filled with symbolism and quiet surrealist humour.
Hand-formed in semi-porcelain and painted by hand, the vase combines a glossy black suit and bowler hat with a crisp white shirt and vivid red tie. The fresh green apple and individually modelled leaves create a striking contrast with the restrained monochrome figure.
Produced in limited studio batches, The Ceramic Son works as both a functional flower vase and a collectible ceramic art object for contemporary interiors and art-led homes.

Form & Visual Impact
The upright portrait creates a balanced sculptural silhouette, while the apple projects beyond the face and becomes the centre of the composition. From different angles, the modelled profile, hat brim, stem and leaves gradually reveal themselves.
The contrast between the anonymous figure and the natural form of the apple gives the piece its distinctive surrealist character.
Natural variations in shape, colour and glaze are part of the handmade process, making every vase individual.

Material & Surface Craft
Crafted from high-fired semi-porcelain, the vase has a strong structure and smooth tactile surface. The facial features, bowler hat, apple and leaves are carefully formed before the decorative finish is applied.
Underglaze painting and studio glazes develop their final depth during kiln firing. The glossy black surfaces reflect light, while the green apple and red tie introduce vivid colour accents.

Designed for Distinctive Interiors
The vase works beautifully in contemporary, minimalist, eclectic and gallery-inspired spaces. It can be displayed on a console, sideboard, shelf or dining table, either with flowers or as a standalone art object.
Against a light background, its black silhouette becomes particularly graphic. Within a colourful interior, the red and green details add personality without overwhelming the composition.
