Magritte Collection

A Surrealist Ceramic Vase with a Playful Bite
The Apple Orchard Ceramic Vase from the Magritte Collection by Leti Ceramics is a handmade sculptural vase that reimagines Magritte’s bowler-hatted figure through botanical decoration and playful narrative detail.
A bright red apple conceals the face, while a single bite interrupts its perfect outline and introduces a sense of action, curiosity and untold story. The turquoise jacket is covered with orchard branches, leaves and miniature fruit, extending the apple motif across the entire composition.
Hand-formed in semi-porcelain and painted entirely by hand, the vase works as both a functional flower vessel and a collectible ceramic art object.

Form & Surrealist Detail
The formal portrait is balanced by the projecting apple, sculpted leaves and richly decorated jacket. Viewed from the front, the bitten apple becomes the centre of attention. From the side, the facial profile, pale apple flesh and individually modelled botanical details become more visible.
The missing bite introduces an element of time: something has happened, but the figure’s identity and the meaning of the scene remain unresolved.
Natural differences in modelling, brushwork and glaze make every vase unique.

Material & Orchard-Inspired Surface
Crafted from high-fired semi-porcelain, the vase combines structural strength with a smooth decorative surface. The apple, leaves, face and bowler hat are carefully formed by hand.
Branches and fruit move across the pale turquoise jacket, while metallic gold accents catch the light and add depth to the botanical pattern. Underglaze painting, studio glazes and decorative lustre develop their final character during kiln firing.

Designed for Art-Led Interiors
The Apple Orchard Vase suits contemporary, eclectic and gallery-inspired interiors. It can be displayed with flowers or branches on a console, sideboard, shelf or dining table.
Against a neutral background, the turquoise surface, red apple and gold detailing appear particularly vivid.
